Adventure Info
The Pindari Glacier is a glacier found in the Bageshwar district of the Kumaon Himalayas of Uttarakhand to the southeast of Nanda devi an Nanda Kot peaks. The glacier flows to the south for a short distance of about 3 km and is the source of the Pindari river which meets the Alaknanada at Karnaprayag in the Garhwak division . Trail starts from kharkiya passing the villages of khati and hamlets of dwali, phurkiya and finally to the zero point of the glacier. This is an easy/moderate up and down trek with a gradual increase in altitude from 2200m in khati to around 3700m at zero point. The trail passes through rhododendron forests, mountain ridges and numerous streams as we make our way into beautifully spread out meadows rich in fauna and avifauna.
Why US ?
Though there are a lot of trekking companies offering the Pindari glacier trek to its customers, What makes us different is that we just don’t believe in rushing through the trek as if its a job, without being able to experience and savour the beauty and uniqueness of each stopover on the way to the glacier and upon reaching the glacier itself.
The first thing we did , that instead of the usual 5 days we increased the duration of the actual trek to 7 days , so that not only the hardcore trekkers but anybody with decent fitness level is able to be part of the trek , with enough time for recuperation and not too much walking each day . Also, increasing the duration of the trek gives us ample time at Dwali and Phurkiya to explore the wonderful forests and the meadows around.
Our trip starts from Kathgodam and ends at Kathgodam , so that people not too familiar with the place can conveniently book their train tickets to Kathgodam and not worry about any logistics beyond that, including transportation and lodging at Bageshwar.
We believe in curating experiences and not just activities, so apart from trekking , our tour leader will help people in spotting and identifying some of the uncommon and beautiful high altitude birds that we will be encountering on the trek, Apart from that on the second day, we will take you around the village of khati , helping travellers get a deeper insight into the culture and lifestyle of the people living in these remote parts of Uttarakhand.
Relationship with people is our strength and helping the local economy of the place being visited, Our motto ! All staff accompanying us on the trek, which includes porters, guide, cooks etc. are locals from the village of Khati .
Trek to Pindari glacier with us is not just another trek , its an amalgamation of activities that we hope you would cherish as a memorable experience !
