A solo recce tour to the town of Munsiari from the 11th to the 17th of November with 5 days of birding at Munsiari , one morning and afternoon at Khaliya top , and one full day at a couple of spots within a radius of 25km on either side, during which i saw more than a 100 species of Birds with an amazing sighting of a Satyr Tragopan , bird that remains the highlight of this bird rich town .
Exploration that took us to some lesser known and unexplored places and habitats, looking for the November migrants and a few birds that we have missed out on spotting during our previous tours .
In Munsiari, i was joined by my friend and the ever reliable and enthusiastic @surendrapanwar, a local from munisari and a very avid birder and who knows Munsiari and surrounds like noone else . Surprisingly , considering it being mid -November, the full winter migration hasn’t yet taken place , as we couldnt find any trace of Grossbeaks, Beautiful rosefinch Male ( though we did see a female on the last day ) , Eastern Goldfinch etc. . December onwards, you could add a few more species to the bird list compiled .
Munsiari with its astoundingly scenic landscapes, great food, lovely people and rich birdlife is definitely a destination that should be on everyone’s go to list !
If you would like to book a Birding tour this winters, please do get in touch at 9711438613, We should be doing a fixed departure in the month of January , details of which will be provided soon .
P.S : No call playback was used to Photograph any of the birds !
